Photo's of holy places

Hope you enjoy this.

Bethlehem...It was in Bethlehem that God's only begotten Son Jesus was born to a lowly virgin named Mary. She was there with her husband Joseph in response to a decree that a census be taken of the entire Roman world by the emperor Caesar Augustus. Because of the large crowds, there was no room for them in the inn so God's only begotten Son was born in a stable. Mary wrapped her firstborn (Jesus) in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger. It was also here that angels appeared to shepherds in the fields proclaiming the birth of Jesus.

Nazareth... is the city were Jesus grew up. After John the Baptist was imprisoned by Herod, Jesus moved from Nazareth to Capernaum.
Capernaum... is known as the home of Jesus and His apostles. While walking by the Sea of Galilee near Capernaum one morning, Jesus called Peter and His brother Andrew to follow Him. He told them that He would make them fishers of men. At this time, He also called James and John the sons of Zebedee. All four were fishermen on the sea of Galilee. This is also the site of Matthew's call by Jesus to follow Him. Many miracles were performed and gracious words spoken by Jesus in Capernaum.

Synagogue at Capernaum... Jesus taught and performed many miracles in the synagogue at Capernaum and throughout Galilee. The present day ruins of a synagogue in Capernaum are from a later period (around 400 AD), but this could have been the site of the original synagogue in Capernaum
Sea of Galilee... Much of Jesus' ministry took place in this area. It was on the Sea of Galilee that Jesus walked one night to help His disciples who were in trouble in the midst of a storm.

Jordan River...As soon as Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan river, heaven was opened and the Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) was seen descending like a dove and lighting on Jesus. A voice was also heard from heaven saying, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."
Jerusalem-The Old City... It was into Jerusalem that Jesus rode on a young donkey, the crowds going before Him placing their cloaks and palm branches upon the road shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! 'Hosanna in the highest!" Jerusalem was the center of Jewish religious worship, the Temple being there.

Jericho... As Jesus was leaving Jericho on His way to Jerusalem and the Cross, a blind man by the name of Bartimaeus began shouting, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" He wanted Jesus to heal his blindness. Jesus said to him, " Go, your faith has healed you." and immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
Pool of Siloam...Located in Jerusalem, the Pool of Siloam is where Jesus told a man born blind to wash after He had anointed his eyes with mud that he might see. The Bible tells us, " So the man went and washed, and came home seeing."

The Site Of The Last Supper... It was in this room that Jesus and His disciples observed the Passover supper (The Last Supper) just prior to His arrest and crucifixion on Calvary. It was here that "Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it , and gave it to His disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is My body." Then He took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it all of you. This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."
Garden Of Gethsemane...This garden was a favorite spot of Jesus and His disciples. It is a small olive grove located just outside of Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives. It was here that Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus.

Via Dolorosa...This is the route taken by Jesus as He carried the cross on His way to Calvary (Golgotha).
Golgotha...(The Place of the Skull) is the site where Jesus was crucified. It was here that God's only begotten son shed His blood and died that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

Garden Tomb... This is the site where Jesus' body was laid after His crucifixion. It is also the site where three days later Jesus rose from the grave for the grave was not able to hold Him.
Mount Of Olives... From its summit, Jesus ascended into Heaven forty days after His resurrection. It is also to this Mount that He will return.

Mount Zion...The easternmost hill lying in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Aish HaTorah's Western Wall Tunnel Tour...

As we move through this place, you begin to feel a quiet sense of awe. Our footfalls are muffled by the earth and by eons of time that have come and gone, century upon century, conquerer upon conquerer...and always the Jews remained, returning to their eternal home.

Notice the openings in the stonework of the ceiling. People would lower vessels into a water supply directly under their houses. Pretty handy having your water just under your feet!

These places are holy and I hope you enjoy them.
